75 Years in the Gold Country
This year we celebrate the 75th birthday of our Branch in Nevada County with a variety of special events and presentations. Programs are usually held on the third Saturday of the month. October, November and January meetings will be held at Peace Lutheran Church in Grass Valley. The remainder will be at other locations and times. Check the website calendar and your Lodestone for details. Guests are always welcome.
September 17 - Welcome Gathering! - 9:30 AM Hideaway Park, Lake Wildwood, Penn Valley
With a Brunch by Lake Wildwood, you'll be able to revisit with old friends, meet new ones, and browse tables with displays set up by the interest groups. After checking out the groups, you can sign up for those which pique your interest.
October 15 - 100 Years With the Right to Vote, Now Let's Demand Equal Pay - 9:30 am

This month marks the 100th anniversary of Women Voting in California. A Sierra College professor will help us understand the past and prepare for the future.
November 19 - Today's Women, Their Challenges and Solutions- 9:30 AM Speaker to be announced.

December 10 - Holiday Celebration and Dinner Stone House Hospitality Academy, Nevada City
4:00 pm Cocktails 5:00 pm Dinner
We will wine and dine with our "significant others" at the historic Stone House, all decorated for the season. Watch The Lodestone for details.
January 21 - Schools for Girls in Pakistan - Challenge and Opportunity - 9:30 AM
Peace Lutheran Church, 828 W. Main, Grass Valley
Professor Carla Petievich, Executive Director of the Hoshyar Foundation (www.hoshyar.org) tells her compelling story of how her research drew her to support the education of girls in Pakistan. We will learn about the continuing challenge there and how little it takes to make a big difference in their lives.

Invite you friends to enjoy a day of games to benefit the Local Scholarship Fund. Games include bridge, scrabble, puzzles, board games or any that you and your friends would like to play during the afternoon.
Admission to the event includes a lovely lunch prepared and served by the members of the Branch.
March 29 Happy Birthday AAUW Nevada County 4:00PM-7:00PM 151 Union Square, Grass Valley
We're 75 and getting stronger! To celebrate we will party at 151 Union Square in Grasss Valley. Appetizers will be prepared by 141 Main St., the biggest new name in catering in Nevada County. Wine and beer will be available for purchase.

Our Educational Foundation will benefit from the exciting new event in the planning stages for April. Watch this space, your Lodestone and local paper for information closer to April.
