It’s All About the Mission
Programs are held monthly, September through May, usually on the third Saturday. Most meetings are at the Peace Lutheran Church, 828 West Main, Grass Valley, from 9:30 am until 12 noon. With a Brunch by Lake Wildwood, you'll be able to revisit with old friends, meet new ones, and browse tables with displays set up by the interest groups. After checking out the groups, you can sign up for those which pique your interest.
October 23rd- How Nutrition and Fitness Impact Our Health - 9:30 am Peace Lutheran Church, Grass Valley
Our own member, Dr. Christy Lasich, will bring you up-to-date on the latest nutrition news. Is red wine really 'good' for you? Do I have to eat spinach? Following Dr. Lasich, Scott and Barbi Jackson from Real Life Fitness in Nevada City will explore the mind/body connection.
November 20th - Black Lace Bras For Six Year OLDS? - 9:30 am Peace Lutheran Church, Grass Valley
Dr. Kathleen Taylor of Sierra College will show us how media and our marketing culture negatively affects the self-image of women and girls. She is a lively and engaging speaker who will undoubtably present some compelling examples.
December 11 - Holiday Gala at the Stone House Hospitality Academy, Nevada City 4:00 pm Cocktails 5:00 pm Dinner
We will wine and dine with our "significant others" at the historic Stone House, all decorated for the season. An early dinner will include a selection of three different main dishes, a tasty salad, and their own "special" holiday dessert, coffee or tea --all for only $15 perperson. You may purchase wine ($5 per glass) or beer ($3 per glass) at the no-host bar. Watch The Lodestone for details.
January 15th - Game Day - 11:30 am Location to be announced
Invite friends, spouses, etc. to enjoy a day for games including bridge, Scrabble, puzzles, Monopoly and more to benefit the Local Scholarship Fund. Admission includes a delicious lunch prepared and served by members.
February 19th - If You Want Peace and Prosperity, Put Women inCharge! 9:30 am Peace Lutheran Church, Grass Valley
The focus of this program will be on women in the developing world. Reconciliation efforts by women to resolve post war conflicts and micro-financing programs that put women in business will be discussed.
March 19th - Breaking Through The Barriers- 9:30 am Peace Lutheran Church, Grass Valley
In honor of National women's Month and International Women's Day, we will view Maria Hinojosa's documentary, "Women, Power and Politics" with an introduction by local media expert, Susan Rogers.April 16th - 10th Annual Appraisal Faire - 9:00 am to 3:00 pm Banner Grange, 12629 McCourtney Road, Grass Valley
Eleventh annual fundraiser to support the AAUW Educational Foundation. Watch for sign=up sheets to join in the fun!
May 21st- Luncheon and Installation of Officers - 11:00 am
