The AAUW Educational Foundation
(EF) has a long and distinguished history of advancing educational and professional opportunities for women in the United States and around the globe. Each year the Foundation provides about $4 million in fellowships, grants and awards for outstanding women and for community action projects. The foundation also funds pioneering research on women, girls, and education.
The Eleanor Roosevelt Fund
Established in 1989, this fund is given for a broad range of activities including classroom teaching, education and research, and legal and legislative work in equity for women and girls. While the award focuses on education, the recipient need not be an educator. The AAUW Legal Advocacy Fund (LAF) works to combat sex discrimination in higher education and the workplace. LAF seeks amices curiae opportunities in cases of discrimination that disadvantages women in the workplace. LAF is also transitioning toward supporting landmark sex discrimination cases that have the potential to make a difference for all women.
The Virginia Gildersleeve International Fund for University Women
(VGIF) focuses on the health, nutrition, physical security, and economic stability of women and children in developing countries. VGIF helps to improve the lives of women through leadership training, community development, and educational seminars and workshops.
The AAUW of California Special Project Fund Tech Trek Science Camp Program

(AAUW-CA SPF Tech Trek) is a one-week science camp for 8th grade girls. The girls are nominated by their science teachers and school administrators based on achievement and aptitude in the areas of science and mathematics. During the week at camp the ‘trekkers’ are exposed to the diverse worlds of science and technology with actual hands-on activities.

Local Scholarship Program

Administered by the Nevada County Branch Charitable Trust, the Nevada County Branch periodically awards scholarships to high school graduates, to re-entry students, and to Sierra College graduates working toward a bachelor’s program.
